PROGRAM: Hospice & Community Care, your local, non-profit hospice provider, began serving families who are facing serious illness in 1980. It is the largest hospice provider in the state, serving more than 500 patients and their families each day in York and Lancaster Counties, and in neighboring communities, with hospice, supportive (long-term) and palliative care, and bereavement services. We care for patients and their families in their homes, in local hospitals, in senior living communities, and at our Inpatient Unit. Using national and local statistics and market data, Hospice & Community Care President & CEO, Steve Knaub, will provide a snapshot of end-of-life care in York County among the aging population, and how local organizations are partnering together to meet the needs of the community. He will discuss options available for Veterans, ways in which healthcare providers are collaborating to provide comfort for people dealing with serious illness through end of life, and resources available for people coping with serious illness, end of life, and loss. This subject matter is very pertinent to Rotary Club members as we manage our own families’ healthcare, provide for our employees, care for our aging parents and plan for our own future.
