Weekly Virtual Meeting on zoom.com
Our virtual speaker will be Pennsylvania Auditor General Eugene DePasquale, who is completing his eight year in that role. The state Auditor General serves as the chief fiscal watchdog of the commonwealth. Each year the Auditor General conducts about 5,000 audits to ensure that all state money is spent legally and properly. In his eight years as our Auditor General, Eugene DePasquale not only transformed the way the office functions to improve efficiency, accountability and effectiveness, he reviewed the fiscal and human impact of state government actions.
His work has touched the lives of all Pennsylvanians, from school audits that stopped tax hikes to reports that led to fixing the state’s child-abuse hotline — ChildLine — where he found more than 58,000 calls went unanswered before his audit. His calls for action have nearly eliminated a huge backlog of untested rape kits in Pennsylvania finally bringing justice to thousands of victims. He took on national Pharmacy Benefit Managers and recommended ways to help lower prescription drug costs. Join us January 6 to find out more about the critical work of our state’s fiscal watchdog and help thank Eugene for his outstanding work as our Auditor General.
