Our speaker today will be Mike Keiser, from the PA Department of Transportation (Penn DOT). He will provide an I-83 Update/Overview/Status of existing projects and anticipated construction schedule for projects under design that are currently funded for construction, including the on-going Mt. Rose Avenue interchange, the I-83 Exit 4 reconstruction, and the widening of I-83 between the Mt. Rose Avenue and North George Street interchanges. Mike is a 1981 graduate of Williams Valley High School located in northern Dauphin County. He earned a B.S degree in engineering in 1986 from Penn State. Following graduation, he was initially employed in the oil & gas industry in Farmington, NM, working for 5 months before being laid off, as oil prices dropped to below $9/barrel. His PA. DOT career began in June, 1986 as a Civil Engineer Trainee, moving to various locations and positions, giving him a varied background. His assignments ranged from small, local bridge projects to very large expressway and interstate reconstruction efforts, including the Rt. 11/15 reconstruction from Amity Hall to Snyder County and the US 30/Rt. 283 Central Section in Lancaster County – Manheim Pike to US 222. Mike has been the District 8 Executive since January 2012.
