DESCRIPTION:The Youth Literacy Committee is organizing a volunteer opportun
 ity for Rotarians to help celebrate Pennsylvania Ag Literacy Week which fo
 cuses on connecting volunteers from the community to local classrooms.   
 Volunteers will visit K-2nd grade classes in York City School District ele
 mentary schools and read “Cows Can MOO! Can You? All About FARMS with Dr
 . Seuss” a book with an accurate and engaging theme about agriculture. 
   After the book is read volunteers will engage further with students wit
 h an easy-to-lead classroom activity that re-enforces the concepts they le
 arned from the book.   The book is then donated to the classroom teacher 
 along with educational activities and resources to use throughout the scho
 ol year.   The project provides an opportunity to promote our mission of 
 improving literacy in our community\, which is the keystone for success in
  life and leads to better job opportunities and personal achievement.
