JT Hand is the President and CEO of The York Water Company, our Nation's Oldest Investor Owned Utility and York County's longest continuously operating private enterprise.  JT shares a bit of historical perspective on Lake Williams, the Company's investment in our community's infrastructure, and the responsible path York Water is pursuing to protect our most important natural resource.

For over 205 years York Water has served the residents, businesses and industries of York with a safe, reliable water supply to meet the demands of our increasing population.  As York prospered through the Industrial Revolution, York Water's leadership recognized and planned for the increasing demand on the community's water resources, and in 1912 the Company constructed its first reservoir, Lake Williams, impounding over 600 million gallons of water.

110 years later, new regulations, advanced engineering, modulation in precipitation trends, and age, lead York Water to rehabilitate the Lake Williams Dam to prepare for the Company's next century of service.
