LOCATION:
HYBRID MEETING - Country Club of York and Virtual Meeting on zoom.com
PROGRAM:
Bobby Simpson has been the CEO of Crispus Attucks for 41 years. He was asked to accept a special leave from his job at Caterpillar in 1979. At that time, Crispus Attucks was known as a recreation center, and it was in danger of losing funding from the United Way. After 5 years of special leave, Bobby was given the option of returning to Caterpillar or staying at Caterpillar. The rest is history, and today, under his leadership, Crispus Attucks has grown into one of the largest nonprofits in York, providing education, training, safe and affordable housing, and a variety of other services to the community. Bobby has received many local, state and national awards, and has served on various boards, including Martin Library, York College, and York Hospital. As Crispus Attucks is celebrating its 90th anniversary, Bobby will showcase some of the highlights of the Center, as well as share some exciting plans to build the Crispus Attucks African American History and Cultural Center.
