YOUTH LITERACY COMMITTEE SEEKS VOLUNTEERS FOR ROTARY READS EVENT - SEPTEMBER 30
We need your help to share an inspiring message about creativity with about 750 pre-kindergarten and early learning center students in York city!
Volunteers are needed from 9:30-11:30 am on Tuesday, September 30th to read a copy of "Arlo Draws an Octopus" to pre-kindergarten students at schools across York city and the surrounding area. The Youth Literacy Committee is organizing a city-wide volunteer opportunity for Rotarians to distribute copies of the book to several classrooms and schools in York. The project also provides us with an opportunity to promote our mission of improving literacy in our community, which is the keystone for success in life and leads to better job opportunities and personal achievement. This will be one of our Club's largest and most impactful service projects – and one you will not want to miss. Not sure what to expect in the classroom? Prior to the reading day, there will be some tips and information that will help prepare you for a great experience!
Register today for The Rotary Club of York’s ONLY annual fundraiser, Love For Community, to be held at the Country Club of York on September 8th. There’s something for everyone! Choose to play golf, croquet, corn hole, tennis, or pickle ball. If you’re not feeling “sporty” you can still participate by attending the dinner and auction.
Did you know that tennis is one of the most popular non-team sports in the world, with around 87 million players? And while pickleball is still young by comparison, it's now the fastest-growing sport in America. But no matter if you’re a fan of "tried and true" tennis or would rather give “up and coming” pickleball a shot, the good news is that both share very similar skill sets . . . hand-eye coordination, quick footwork, and control of the ball on the racket, to name just a few . . . so why not give either a try? Thank you to this year’s Presenting Sponsors,Fox43and North Industrial Chemicals; Diamond Sponsors,Rotary Club of York Past Presidents and WellSpan Health;and Platinum Sponsors, Glatfelter Insuranceand Powder Mill Foundation.
