PROGRAM: As a published author in school safety and the Emergency Manager of Baltimore City Schools, speaker Cody Santiago will discuss his profession and his book Averting a School Crisis. Having only started in his new position five months ago, Cody has accomplished much for the district through building new relationships in the city, developing brand new plans toward security strategies, school emergency plans, and threat/hazard identification. These outcomes are unique because all of the work has been done virtually which is typically taboo in the world of emergency management. Having served as an Emergency Management Specialist for the PA Emergency Management Agency as well, Cody would like to discuss some of the difficulties schools in PA face in terms of safety and security and how Rotary can help.
