Literacy Book Drive
In March of this year, the York Rotary Literacy Committee was in the midst of our annual book drive when COVIID-19 hit.  We were raising funds for this year’s recipient, The YMCA of York.  Books will be provided to two of their programs:  The York Early Learning Center and the Before and After School Childcare at Wallace Elementary.    As of our last in-person meeting in March we had raised $730 in member donations, but we lost the opportunity to continue to make our ask in person at our weekly meetings when Covid-19 shut everything down.  The Literacy Committee has a $1000 match, so we don’t have far to go to reach our goal of a full 100% match.   The overarching goal of the Literacy Committee is to get books into the hands of children and families who may not have much access to books of their own.   Your generous gift will help the YMCA provide this access to young readers and their caregivers.  Please help us meet our 100% match and consider a gift before the end of the Rotary Year.   Requests to be invoiced should be made to Bert by June 22nd, and any checks mailed to the Rotary office should specify the book drive and must be received prior to the 22nd.       THANKS for your support for the children!!!    Deb Harrison, Chair, on behalf of the York Rotary Literacy Committee
