At our March 29th meeting, the Club honored Jack Kay, Chairman of the York County Industrial Development Authority, with the Service Above Self award. A dedicated community leader, Jack played an integral role in the seven year-long effort to preserve, restore, and reestablish The Yorktowne Hotel's architectural character and historic place in the York community. His vision, heartfelt passion, and relentless determination were keys to the successful restoration and reopening of the jewel of downtown York. Jack is a true example of how putting service above self can bring about meaningful and positive change within our communities.

SAVE THE DATE! SEMI-ANNUAL TREE PLANTING – SATURDAY, APRIL 22 @ 8:00 am

The semi-annual tree planting will take place on Saturday, April 22, at 8:00 a.m. Volunteers should meet at the parking lot at E. Philadelphia St. & Broad St. There will be 20 trees to plant. After planting the trees, which should take approximately one hour, those who are willing to stay should proceed to the WELCOME TO YORK fountain/garden, where volunteers are needed to cut back the hydrangea and liriope; remove dead leaves from around the day lilies; weed; and prune and fertilize roses. Please bring a hedge trimmer (manual), pruning clippers, grass trimmers, or a lawn rake if you plan to help at the welcome garden. The garden will not need mulching at this time. Please contact Al Sykes at (717) 880-1261 or awsykes@gmail.com to let him know if you can help with either or both jobs.
