AN UPDATE ON THE YORKTOWNE HOTEL
At a recent club meeting, President Elect Glenn Miller shared news regarding whether or not we would be returning to the Yorktowne Hotel upon its reopening. A portion of his announcement follows:
“It’s my task today to share with you all that, for the foreseeable future at least, we will not be returning to the Yorktown. The hotel’s management has explained that conference and convention reservations, which will require the use of the ballroom, are already in place through early 2023, and that is anticipated to continue. In short, having their only large meeting space unavailable every Wednesday simply isn’t possible for them.
While I know that many will be disappointed in this, I would note two important things. First, the success of the Yorktowne Hotel is paramount in all of our minds, and vital to the success of our beloved downtown York. If that is assisted by us NOT holding our meetings there, I think that’s assistance we should be happily willing to give. And second, since the day we left the Yorktown, we have been very fortunate to have had a comfortable, convenient, affordable, and WELCOMING home here at the Country Club of York. Brian, the CCY manager and a fellow Rotarian, has been and continues to be delighted to have us here.”
You are welcome to reach out to PE Glenn with questions or comments.
