MEETING DATE
Wednesday, February 23, 2022
LOCATION:
HYBRID MEETING -
Country Club of York & Virtual Meeting on zoom

PROGRAM:
JT Hand is the President and CEO of The York Water Company, our Nation's Oldest Investor Owned Utility and York County's longest continuously operating private enterprise.  For over 205 years York Water
has served the residents, businesses and industries of York with a safe, reliable water supply to meet the demands of our increasing population.  As York prospered through the Industrial Revolution, York Water's leadership recognized and planned for the increasing demand on the community's water resources, and in 1912 the Company constructed its first reservoir, Lake Williams, impounding over 600 million gallons of
water.  Through prudent investment and strategic foresight, the Company had secured sufficient water reserves to serve our growing community.  110 years later, new regulations, advanced engineering, modulation in precipitation trends, and age, lead York Water to rehabilitate the Lake Williams Dam to
prepare for the Company's next century of service.  JT will share a bit of historical perspective on Lake Williams, the Company's investment in our community's infrastructure, and the responsible path York
Water is pursuing to protect our most important natural resource.

COURAGEOUS CONVERSATIONS 2: CREATING A WELCOMING CULTURE
Since the IDEA committee held its Courageous Conversations on Race a few months ago, they have reviewed
all the notes taken to develop the next steps for the committee and for our club. One recurring theme from
the conversations, when discussing potential barriers to diversifying our membership, was that some participants shared that they felt our club does not project the warmest atmosphere and is not the most welcoming.

The hope is to make the cultural change that transforms our club into the inviting, friendly, and effective
club that we all know it has the potential to be. The IDEA Committee invites you to
participate in Courageous Conversations 2: Creating a Welcoming Culture.

This conversation will focus on strategies our club can take to make ourselves the best version of a
welcoming, inclusive, and friendly Rotary that we can be. There will be two 90-minute sessions to
choose from.
  • Tuesday, March 1st at 9:00am.
  • Thursday, March 3rd at 4:00pm

Click on the Sign Up Genius link here: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/70A0B4FAEAE2DA0FA7-courageous
to register to participate in either session. They will both take place over Zoom to make it easier to fit one of them into your schedule. With the valuable input that you give these conversations, the Rotary Club of York will benefit and thrive.
