Bryan Wade is a native of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, a former York educator, government official, and television talk show host with 20 years of radio, television, and documentary production experience. Bryan has a unique perspective on the remarkable stories and accomplishments of the African American Experience in America.
Bryan’s motivation for creating the Keystones Oral History Series was due to the lack of regional documentary and curricular materials within public education throughout the United States. Mr. Wade aspires to educate and inform emerging and future generations.
Mr. Wade's presentation will provide an historical overview regarding the evolution of Keystones Oral Histories. Additionally, Bryan will provide an update regarding his upcoming documentary and curriculum pertaining to the history of the Underground Railroad and Abolitionists throughout South Central Pennsylvania.

We will hear from Christopher Baxter and Ed Mahon of Spotlight PA. Spotlight PA is an independent, nonpartisan newsroom dedicated to high-quality investigative and public-service journalism about the PA state government and urgent statewide issues. The organization was founded in 2019 to address a crisis in journalism in Pennsylvania: the ongoing and rapid decline of corporate-owned legacy news outlets. Spotlight PA is uncovering stories that would otherwise go untold and cutting through partisanship and misinformation to deliver trusted reliable journalism at no cost to all Pennsylvanians.
In only three years, Spotlight PA has become a leading national model for independent, collaborative journalism. Its work has won numerous state and national awards and driven meaningful change and policy reforms in the state capital and beyond.

The semi-annual tree planting will take place on Saturday, April 22 at 8:00 a.m. Volunteers should meet at the parking lot at E. Philadelphia St. & Broad St. There will be 20 trees to plant. After planting the trees, those who are willing should proceed to the WELCOME TO YORK fountain/garden, where volunteers are needed to cut back the hydrangea and liriope; remove dead leaves from around the day lilies; weed; and prune and fertilize roses. Please bring a hedge trimmer (manual), pruning clippers, grass trimmers, or a lawn rake if you plan to help at the welcome garden. Please contact Al Sykes at (717) 880-1261 or awsykes@gmail.com to let him know if you can help with either or both jobs.
