People of Action

The work of Rotary begins in the community, and every community has its own unique needs and concerns. Together, we apply our professional experience and personal commitment to tackle our communities’ most persistent problems. Our members look for opportunities to improve our communities today and invest in the next generation for tomorrow. Rotary members likely are working in your community right now to feed the hungry, tutor disadvantaged children, maintain parks and playgrounds, and much more.  It’s what we’ve been doing for more than 100 years, and our impact on lives is unmistakable.

The Rotary Club of York is active in both local and international service projects. In York County, our members develop, support, and fundraise for many worthwhile projects. Our members believe “Service Above Self” is not just a club motto but a true vocation.

You’ll find Rotary members planting trees, organizing food drives, building ball fields, donating books, and more. We’re protecting our environment, empowering youth, and responding to disasters.

We tackle the tough challenges in our communities with a spirit of determination. From giving young people the tools they need to resolve conflict peacefully to providing leadership opportunities for promising students, Rotary members are helping to improve lives in our own neighborhoods.

The club is actively involved in the welfare of our fellow citizens. A wide variety of Rotary committees provide opportunities for service and fellowship.  Our committee efforts have included promoting literacy in York, recognizing and honoring our neighbors who exemplify “service above self”, beautifying our community by planting trees and maintaining trails. The Preserve Planet Earth committee renovated Kiwanis Lake.

Several committees are focused on developing youth leadership and international youth exchange programs for high school students who are given the opportunity to travel abroad to learn a different culture and make new friends.  The Rotary Club of York works in conjunction with the Rotary International network of local clubs in different countries to sponsor students.  Our Club also hosts students from other countries.

Our club recognizes outstanding students from area high schools and sponsors attendance at  RYLA – Rotary Youth Leadership Awards- a leadership program coordinated by Rotary Clubs around the globe. Young people from York are sponsored by the Rotary Club of York to attend the RYLA program run by our Rotary District 7390.

Building Connections

One benefit of membership in the Rotary Club of York is the opportunity to connect with other community-minded individuals- both fellow Rotarians and others working to help improve our community. A Rotarians Networking program invites members of the Rotary Club of York to visit the businesses of other Rotarians and get to know them on a one-on-one basis.
